About me
Stephanie Alvarez, LCSW
I am a licensed psychotherapist specializing in maternal mental health and the early parent–child relationship. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California and have spent the past several years supporting parents and young children across both medical and community mental health settings, including the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and Kaiser Permanente.
In addition to my clinical work within these systems, I have maintained a private practice for several years where I provide therapy, consultation, and clinical supervision to clinicians working with families and perinatal populations.
My work focuses on supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition into motherhood. I have advanced training in trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), with specialized expertise in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I am PMH-C certified through Postpartum Support International and a 2025 fellow of the UC Davis Napa Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship, where I received advanced training in maternal wellbeing, infant development, and strengthening the parent–infant relationship.
In addition to my professional work, I am also the mother of two energetic boys, an experience that continues to deepen my understanding of the emotional and relational shifts that come with motherhood.
